Questions we hear from teams like yours
Can each member company have its own rules?
Yes. Put each member on its own VLAN or SSID and Shield applies a separate policy to it, with its own categories, allow lists and block lists. Where a member uses Entra ID or Active Directory, policy can also follow its user groups.
Do members need to install anything?
No. On your network, Shield works by pointing the router, firewall or DHCP at it, so nothing needs installing on member laptops or phones. Each member's devices are covered as soon as they join its VLAN or SSID.
Will filtering slow the WiFi?
It tends to do the opposite. Blocking ads and trackers at the lookup gives up to 500% faster page loads and 20 to 40% less web traffic in Purple's own measurements, which matters on a shared uplink at peak hours.
What do you log about members?
Shield sees the domains a device looks up, not the content of what it sends. Raw query logs are kept for 9 days. Purple holds ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials, GDPR and CCPA, and your team signs in to Shield through Okta, Entra ID or OIDC single sign-on.
Do we need hardware at each site?
No. Point each site's router, firewall or DHCP at Shield. Where members sit on segmented VLANs, the relay shows each device's internal IP rather than one shared address, so you can see which member's device made a lookup.
