Safe customer WiFi for high-street shops, set up with one router change
On the high street, the shop WiFi often runs on the same broadband line as the till, the card reader and the music. Shield gives customers a family-safe network with ads stripped so pages load faster. Your tablet till, card reader and back-office laptop run on threat-first rules. Independents set it up with one router change, and chains set one policy for all their branches.

FAQ
Questions we hear from teams like yours
Do I need an IT person to set this up?
No. You change the DNS setting on your router, or ask your broadband provider to, and point it at Shield. There is no hardware and nothing for customers to install. Most of the work is choosing which categories to block.
Will the till slow down with Shield on?
No. Shield answers the DNS lookup the till makes anyway, and only blocks domains your policy rules out. On the customer WiFi it strips ads, which Purple's own measurements show cuts data use by up to 44%.
Can customers get round it with a VPN?
You can block VPN and proxy apps in one click on the customer network, which closes the usual route round family-safe filtering. Your own devices sit on a separate policy, so the till and your laptop keep working.
Does it help with PCI DSS for card payments?
It helps you meet PCI DSS rather than making you compliant. Your card reader and till sit on a threat-first policy, Shield blocks phishing and malware at the lookup, and scheduled PDF reports give you evidence of what was stopped.
I have five shops. Can they share one policy?
Yes. Set one policy for all your shops and adjust any site, SSID or VLAN where it needs something different. You can also change rules by time of day, and see each shop's reports in one dashboard.
