We do not have an IT person. Can we set this up?
Yes. You change the DNS setting on your router to point at Shield and choose a starting policy. If an IT provider looks after you, they can make the router change and manage the policy for you.
Do we need to buy hardware?
No. Shield runs in the cloud and your existing router points at it. There is no box to install, update or replace, and nothing to install on customers' phones when they use your WiFi.
Will it slow down our internet?
It usually speeds it up. Blocking ads and trackers gives up to 500% faster page loads and up to 44% less data used, in Purple's own measurements, which helps on a small business broadband line.
What about laptops we take home or on the road?
Shield protects devices while they are on your networks, so every laptop and phone in the office is covered with nothing to install. Laptops away from the office need the antivirus or endpoint protection you already run. Back on the office WiFi, they pick up your Shield policy again.
